Scheme of Examination

The Examination will be conducted in four tiers as indicated below:

Tier – I – Computer Based Examination

Tier-II-Computer Based Examination

Tier-III– Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive paper)

Tier-IV– Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/

Document Verification

The Commission reserves the right to make changes in the scheme of examination suchas conduct of Tier-I and Tier-II examination in computer based mode,treating Tier-Iexamination as only qualifying etc.

Interview component has been dispensed with. There will, therefore, be no interview.

There will be negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer in Tier-I. In respect of Tier-II, the negative marking systemof 0.25 for each wrong answer in paper II (English Language & Comprehension) of Tier-II and 0.50 for each wrong answer in Paper-I,Paper III and Paper IV of TierII.

SSC CGL Tier 3

Tier 3 is a descriptive paper which consists of essay writing, letter writing and precis wrting for a total of 100 marks. A candidate in order to qualify the exam has to secure a minimum score of 33 marks.

Time: 1 hr

SSC CGL Tier 4

TIER 4 is qualifying in nature.

CPT is for the post of ASO in CSS & MEA whereas DEST is for the post of Tax assistant in CBDT & CBEC.
