Ministry of Railways will establish Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs)
- Indian Railways will establish Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) in 50 railway station.
- The objectives to establish PMBJKs at Railway stations are as under
- Promote Government of India’s mission to make available quality medicines and consumables (Janaushadhi products) to all at affordable price.
- Enable passengers/visitors at railway stations to easily access Janaushadhi products.
- Enhance wellness and welfare among all sections of the society by providing medicines at affordable prices.
- Create employment opportunities and generate avenues for entrepreneurs for opening PMBJKs.

MakeMyTrip and Ministry of tourism unveiled 600+ travel destinations in India
- MakeMyTrip in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, is showcasing more than 600 destinations within India that are lesser known.
- The Traveller’s Map of India is a microsite developed by MakeMyTrip which provides an interactive platform for travellers to discover tourism locations within the country based on their travel preferences.
- This is designed to support domestic tourism, which can be a powerful instrument for socio-economic development.

Home Affairs Minister inaugurated development works worth Rs 1052 crores in Gujarat
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various development works worth Rs 1052 crore in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- He also inaugurated and dedicated the newly constructed garden by GUDA to the public.
- And also laid the foundation stone for the widening of 4 lane road from Randheja to Balwa.
- He also laid the foundation stone of the BSF’s Mooring Place operated by the Border Security Force (BSF) near the coastal border with Pakistan.
- He also virtually inaugurated a newly-built Chidiyamod Biarbet link road and OP Tower in Kutch.
- All these projects had an outlay of ₹360 crores.

Organic agriculture university in Sikkim
- Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang laid the foundation stone for the Sikkim Organic Agriculture University (SOAU) at Mondegaon in Soreng district.
- The state is also the country’s first organic state.
- The state cabinet also passed the Sikkim Organic Agriculture University Act, 2023 earlier this year.

Rajasthan will set up Gehlot cybercrime investigation centre
- Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had approved a financial proposal of Rs 11.73 crore for setting up a cybercrime investigation centre at the Rajasthan Police Academy.
- The centre will also seek the opinion of experts such as law enforcement agencies, cyber security professionals, legal experts, researchers and industry representatives.
- Besides, a 400-metre-long synthetic athletic track with eight lanes will be constructed for players at the Rajasthan Police Academy stadium at a cost of Rs 7.50 crores.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Solar Mission
- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma unveiled solar mission with the aim of achieving an installed power capacity of 200-300 MW.
- The state government had committed to investing approximately Rs 100 crore annually over the next five years.

A workshop for Insurance Companies and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs)
- The National Health Authority (NHA) and IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) jointly organized an exclusive three-day Accelerator Workshop to help insurance companies complete their Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) integration and to facilitate adoption of Health Claims Exchange (HCX) specifications and e-Claim standards for insurance companies and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) in New Delhi.
- About 150 professionals representing 29 insurance companies and 16 TPAs participated in the workshop.
- The integration with NHCX will enable seamless interoperability of health claims processing.

UPI Chalega
- The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced the third edition of its UPI Safety Awareness campaign, titled “UPI Chalega.”
- NPCI aims to foster the adoption of UPI as a secure, convenient, and instantaneous mode of payment.
- The campaign also seeks to educate users about UPI’s various features, including UPI LITE for swift low-value transactions, UPI AUTOPAY for secure recurring payments, and UPI Interoperability for seamless money transfers across all UPI-enabled applications.

RBI selected McKinsey, Accenture to use AI, ML to improve regulatory supervision
- RBI has selected McKinsey and Accenture to develop systems using artificial intelligence and machine learning for its supervisory functions.
- RBI is looking to artificial intelligence, and machine learning to analyse its huge database and improve regulatory supervision over banks, NBFCs.
- RBI intends to upscale technology to ensure that the benefits of advanced analytics can accrue to the Department of Supervision in the central bank.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) signed MoU with Delhi Metro Rail for QR code-based DMRC tickets
- The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for providing QR code-based DMRC tickets through the IRCTC platform.
- DMRC announced an initiative called ‘CarbonLite Metro Travel’ to educate passengers about their significant contribution towards reducing carbon emissions by choosing metro trains instead of road-based motor vehicles.
IIIT Delhi signed MoU with Yes Bank to strengthen support for Startups
- Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi’s Innovation and Incubation Centre (IIITD-IC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with YES BANK.
- The MoU has been signed with an aim to strengthen its mentoring initiatives for Startups, gain access to experts across the industry, and identify newer investment and funding opportunities that can benefit Startups.
- Under the partnership, YES BANK will offer banking facilities to Startups that are in a developmental phase at IIITD-IC under the Bank’s YES HeadStartup programme.
- The collaboration will ensure that the chosen Startups perform better, generate revenues, register growth, and attract better talent.

Sun - Aditya-L1
- The first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun – Aditya-L1, is getting ready for its launch next month.
- The satellite was developed at U R Rao Satellite Centre Bengaluru, has arrived at its spaceport in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
- The spacecraft is expected to be placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrange point – L1 of the Sun-Earth system, which is about 1.5 million kilometres from the Earth.
Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will launch bus tracking app Gamyam
- The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will launch its live bus tracking app.
- The app – now called TSRTC Gamyam – has been live for the past couple of months as part of a pilot project.
- The app is expected to help commuters to plan their journeys better as it displays routes, stages and the status of the bus.

R Doraiswamy appointed as Life Insurance Corporation of India managing director
- Government has appointed R Doraiswamy as the managing director of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
- He is currently the executive director at the central office in Mumbai.
- He will assume charge on or after September 1, 2023, and up to the date of his superannuation on August 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Obituary
Physicist Bikash Sinha passed away at 78
- Renowned Nuclear physicist Bikash Sinha, a former director of the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) and the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) passed away at 78.
- He was a recipient of Padma Bhushan in 2010.

Asian hockey Championship trophy
- The seventh edition of the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy was held at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Chennai.
- Six Asian national teams participated in the tournament and organized by the Asian Hockey Federation.
- The teams were India, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Pakistan and China.
- The 7th edition trophy was won by India against Malaysia.
- India Previously won in 2011, 2016 & 2018.

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports funds 34 Indian Shooters for ISSF Shooting World Championships
- Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) is funding the participation of the Indian contingent for the upcoming ISSF World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan where a total of 34 Indian shooters, including 17 men and 17 women would be participating.
- The financial assistance towards participation will cover funding of 57 member shooting team which includes 34 Shooters, 15 Coaches, and 8 members of Support Staff including the HPD.
- Out of 34 shooters competing at the event, 24 are Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Athletes and 7 are Khelo India Athletes.

England bowler Steven Finn announced his retirement
- Former England fast bowler Steven Finn retired from all form of cricket.
- Finn took 125 wickets in 36 Test appearances for England at an average of 30.4 between 2010 and 2016.
- The 34-year-old also played in 69 one-day internationals and 21 Twenty20 internationals for England.
