- The Union Health Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya presided over the 42nd Foundation Day at the NationalBoard of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) and delivered keynote address in the presence of Prof. S.P Singh Bhagel, Minister of State, Dr. V.K Paul, Member, Health, Niti Aayog.

India, Philippines to upgrade defence partnership; boost maritime security
- India and Philippines decided to expand their defence partnership through upgraded official level interaction among defence agencies, opening of the resident Defense Attaché office in Manila, and consideration of India’s offer for concessional Line of Credit to buy defence equipment.
- This was decided at the fifth meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) co-chaired by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Philippines counterpart Enrique A. Manalo who is on an official visit to India
- It may be recalled that the Philippines is the first destination for export of Brahmos missiles.

Seven products from Uttar Pradesh get Geographical Indication tag
- The Geographical Indications Registry in Chennai has given tags to seven different products from Uttar Pradesh.
- ‘Amroha Dholak’, ‘Mahoba Gaura Patthar Hastashlip’, ‘Mainpuri Tarkashi’, ‘Sambhal Horn Craft’, ‘Baghpat Home Furnishings’, ‘Barabanki Handloom Product’ and ‘Kalpi Handmade Paper’ are the products that been given the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
- The Amroha Dholak is a musical instrument made of natural wood.
- Mango, jackfruit and teakwood is preferred for making the dholak’s.
- Baghpat and Meerut are famous for their exclusive handloom home furnishing product and running fabrics in cotton yarn since generations, and only cotton yarn are used in the handloom weaving process.
- Baghpat is famous for weaving on the frame loom instead of the pit loom since generations.
- Kalpi has historically been a centre of handmade paper manufacturing.
- The Mahoba Gaura Patthar Hastashlip is a stone craft.
- It is a very unique and soft stone with scientific name, the ‘Pyro Flight Stone’.
- Gaura stone craft is made of radiant white-coloured stone that is predominantly found in this region.
- It is cut into several pieces, which are then used for making various craft items.

Maharashtra: Nagpur's Itwari railway station to be named after Subhash Chandra Bose
- The Maharashtra government has decided to change the name of Itwari station in Nagpur district to ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari ‘ station.

Ladli Behna scheme money to be hiked from Rs 1000 per month to Rs 3000 per month in phased manner
- Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Rs 1,000 per month that is being given to women beneficiaries as part of state government’s Ladli Behna scheme will be hiked three times in a phased manner.
- The scheme covers close to 1.25 crore women.
- The annual amount of Rs 12,000 (under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Scheme) will be hiked to Rs 36,000 per year in a phased manner.

Banking and Finance
World Bank approves USD 1.5 bln financing for India's low-carbon transition
- The World Bank has approved USD 1.5 billion in financing to accelerate India’s low-carbon energy infrastructure.
- The financing will help India promote low-carbon energy by scaling up renewable energy and developing green hydrogen, among others.
- Noting India as one of the fastest-growing large economies in the world, it said the country’s energy demand is expected to grow rapidly as the economy expands.
- At present, India’s per capita energy consumption is only one-third of the global average.
- India aims to achieve net zero by 2070.
- India in early January approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aiming to make the country a global hub for the production, utilization, and export of such technologies.
- The initial financial outlay for the mission is pegged at Rs 19,744 crore, which includes research and development activities.
- The green hydrogen mission will gradually lead to the decarbonization of the industrial, transport, and energy sectors.
- Under this mission, the government aims to raise annual green hydrogen production to 5 million tonnes, and renewable energy capacity addition of about 125 gigawatts.

Paytm partnered with Shriram Finance to strengthen its loan distribution biz
- One97 Communications Limited (OCL), which owns the brand Paytm, announced a partnership with NBFC Shriram Finance Limited to offer financial services to its users, including loan products.
- Through this partnership, Shriram Finance’s products will be made available on Paytm’s platform digitally to further expand access to credit and drive financial inclusion in the country.

ReNew, Sandur conglomerate launch solar, wind energy plant in Kudligi in Karnataka
- Renew Energy Global Plc (ReNew), one of the leading renewable energy companies, has announced the commissioning of an investment in a renewable energy project at Kudligi in Vijayanagara district of Karnataka.
- ReNew is participating in this project through its subsidiary Renew Green Energy Solutions Private Limited, which has partnered with the Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited (SMIORE), a prominent industrial conglomerate.
- The partners had entered into an equity-based agreement to develop a power plant that combines wind and solar energy to generate sustainable electricity.
- The 33 MW solar power plant and 9.9 MW wind power plant developed by Renew Sandur Green Energy Private Limited is expected to make a significant impact on the region’s renewable energy landscape.

Acquisitions and Mergers
Coromandel International bought 32.68% in drone major Dhaksha for Rs 204 crores
- Coromandel International, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Coromandel Technology Limited (CTL), is acquiring an additional 32.68 per cent equity stake in Dhaksha Unmanned Systems (Dhaksha), a Chennai-based differentiated drone start-up at an outlay of Rs 204 crore.
- The Murugappa Group had earlier acquired 18.34 per cent in Daksha through its investment arm Dare Ventures.
- With this acquisition, Coromandel will be holding a majority (51 per cent) stake in Dhaksha.
- Dhaksha, incorporated in 2019 and headquartered in Chennai, is a leading player in drone space in India, providing complete range of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technology solutions across agriculture, defence, surveillance and enterprise applications.
- It also offers remote pilot training services and has trained over 950 pilots till date.
- Currently, it is the only player in the country to receive type certificate from DGCA for three drone models in medium and small categories for agriculture and surveillance applications.

State Bank of India appoints four directors
- State Bank of India (SBI) has appointed four directors on the central board of the bank.
- According to the disclosure under Regulation 30 (4) of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, SBI has reappointed Ketan Shivji Vikamsey and Mrugank Madhukar Paranjape to its board and has added Rajesh Kumar Dubey and Dharmendra Singh Shekhawat as directors.
- The appointment is for a period of three years, from June 26, 2023, to June 25, 2026.

U.K. PM Rishi Sunak honours 101-year-old Sikh World War II veteran with Points of Light award
- British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has honoured Rajindar Singh Dhatt, one of the last surviving Sikh soldiers who fought in the Second World War with a Points of Light honour at a UK-India Week reception at 10 Downing Street.
- Mr. Dhatt, based in Hounslow in southwest London since 1963, was born in pre-Partition India in 1921 and fought with the Allied forces during the British colonial period.
- Mr. Dhatt joined the British Indian Army during the Second World War and excelled up the ranks, being promoted to Havildar Major (Sergeant Major) in 1943.

Asian Kabaddi Championship
- India beat Iran 42-32 in the final of the Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 in Busan, Korea.
- This is India’s eighth title in nine editions.
- Six teams India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong participated in the Championships.
- India won all five matches in the league stage and topped the points table.
- Iran came second, only losing to India in the league stage.

- The International Day of Parliamentarism is celebrated every year on 30 June.

World Asteroid Day 2023
- World Asteroid Day is an annual global event which is held on June 30, the anniversary of the Tunguska event in 1908 when a meteor air burst decimated about 2,000 square km (500,000 acres) of pine forest in central Siberia, Russia.
- The Asteroid Day was cofounded in 2014 (the year after the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor air burst) by renowned cosmologist Stephen Hawking, Apollo 9 astronaut Rusty Schweickart, astrophysicist Brian May and some others.

INS Sunayna
- INS Sunayna, based at Southern Naval Command Kochi, entered Port Beira, Mozambique.
- The ship was received by Mozambique Navy personnel and DA Pretoria, amidst fanfare of military band.
- To enhance Maritime partnership and interoperability, both Navies will engage in professional exchanges, cross deck visits and sports fixtures.
- The ship will be conducting a medical camp as part of Indian Navy’s community outreach programme.
