Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya flags off 75 Trucks for countrywide Awareness Drive to eliminate TB

  • To end TB in the country five years ahead of SDG2030 target, more than 71,000 Ki-shay Mitras have come forward and are today supporting over 10 lakh TB patients through nutritional support and other means.
  • Dr Mandaviya also flagged off 75 Trucks with TB awareness messages that have been provided by Apollo Tyres Foundation, who are actively supporting the Ni-kshay scheme.
  • These trucks will travel and carry the messages of TB-free India across states.

469 routes connecting 74 airports operationalised under UDAN Scheme

  • Ministry of Civil Aviation launched Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) a self-financing scheme on 21-10-2016 to stimulate regional air connectivity and making air travel affordable to the masses.
  • Under UDAN, 469 routes connecting 74 unserved and underserved airports including 9 Heliports & 2 Water aerodromes have been operationalized as on 28.02.2023.
  • An estimated amount of 287 crore rupees has been allocated for the development of thirteen water aerodromes across the country by the 31st March of next year.
  • Under Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), 56 seaplane routes connecting 25 aerodromes were identified in the States and Union Territories of Gujarat, Assam, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Lakshadweep.

Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Rural Development signs MoU for skilling of rural youth and empowering women

  • Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Rural development signed Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in developing skilled personnel by imparting training to rural poor youth and women’s for Ayush healthcare system under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) for 3 years.
  • Apart from this a course for training of rural youth as panchakarma technicians/assistant will be started on pilot basis.
  • NRLM & DDU-GKY will communicate to States/UTs for enlisting willing SHG members and rural poor youth about the courses and its training by institutes of Ministry of Ayush.
  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is the flagship program of the Ministry of Rural Development, GoI.
  • As a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), DDU-GKY aims to transform rural poor youth into economically independent and globally relevant workforce.

50,000 Anganwadi Centres to be constructed in five years: Union Minister Smriti Irani

  • Around 2 lakh Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) would be strengthened and upgraded for improved nutrition delivery along with early childhood care and education of children under 6 years of age.
  • With the aim of revamping Anganwadis, 40,000 AWCs have been identified in aspirational districts for upgradation as Saksham Anganwadis, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani.
  • Union Minister Smriti Irani informed that 50,000 AWCs (10,000 AWCs per year) are to be constructed under convergence with MGNREGS for a five-year period ending FY 2025-26.
  • She said that the cost of construction of a toilet per AWC has been revised to Rs. 36,000 from Rs. 12,000 and the cost of providing drinking water facilities has been revised to Rs. 17000 from Rs. 10,000.

  • Minister of State for Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel has said that over 11 crore Toilets and 2.23 lakh Community Sanitary Complexes have been built across All States and UTs Under Swachh Bharat Mission- Grameen.
  • Over 92 lakh toilets have been constructed since the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission – Grameen Phase-II in April 2020.
  • He informed that Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2022 covered 17 thousand 559 villages in 709 districts in 33 States and UTs across India.

India's milk production rises 5% to 221.06 mn tonnes in FY22

  • Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying Parshottam Rupala unveiled an annual publication ‘Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2022’.
  • Total milk production in the country during 2021-22 is 221.06 million tonnes.
  • In 2021-22, the milk production has registered an annual growth rate of 5.29 per cent.
  • Top five major milk-producing states are Rajasthan (15.05%), Uttar Pradesh (14.93%), Madhya Pradesh (8.06%), Gujarat (7.56%) and Andhra Pradesh (6.97%).
  • The total egg production in the country stood at 129.60 billion nos, up 6.19 per cent as compared to previous year.
  • Total five major egg-producing states are Andhra Pradesh (20.41%), Tamil Nadu (16.08%), Telangana (12.86%), West Bengal (8.84%) and Karnataka (6.38%).
  • The total meat production in the country is 9.29 million tonnes for the year 2021-22 with an annual growth rate of 5.62 per cent.
  • The total five major meat producing States are Maharashtra (12.25%), Uttar Pradesh (12.14%), West Bengal (11.63%), Andhra Pradesh (11.04%), and Telangana (10.82%).
  • The total wool production is 33.13 thousand tonnes, which has declined by 10.30 per cent as compared to previous year.
  • The per-capita availability of milk is 444 gram/day during 2021-22.
  • The per-capita availability of egg is 95 nos per annum.
  • The per-capita availability of meat is 6.82 kg/annum during 2021-22.

Centre gets proposals from States for computerisation of 54,752 PACS

  • The Union government is implementing a centrally sponsored project for the computerization of 63,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS)/Large Area Multi-Purpose Societies (LAMPS)/Farmers Service Societies (FSS) across the country with a total financial outlay of Rs 2,516 crore, approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).
  • At present, proposal for computerization of 54,752 PACS/LAMPS/FSS has been received from the States/UTs and central share amounting to Rs 201.18 crore has been released for the procurement of hardware, digitization of legacy data and establishing support system.
  • The Project Monitoring Units (PMUs) have been set up at central and state levels by NABARD.
  • The development of software has been started by the National Level Project Software Vendor (NLPSV) selected by NABARD.

NTPC commissions green coal plant in Varanasi

  • State-owned power giant NTPC has commissioned first-of-its-kind commercial green coal project in Varanasi, which will make torrefied charcoal from municipal waste.
  • Nearly three years ago NTPC had planned to make green coal (torrefied charcoal) from municipal waste.
  • The first reactor module of 200 tonnes per day (TPD) capacity green coal plant was installed and commissioned for NTPC’s Harit Koyla (Green Coal) Pariyojna plant at Ramana in Varanasi.

  • HDFC Bank and Flipkart Wholesale, the omnichannel B2B platform of the Flipkart Group, launched a co-branded credit card exclusively for Flipkart Wholesale members.
  • Members can apply for the card directly at Flipkart Wholesale stores and on its Best Price Flipkart Wholesale app.
  • HDFC Bank will set up dedicated booths inside Flipkart Wholesale stores to process the applications and provide related customer services.

RBI, UAE central bank sign MoU on interoperability of their CBDCs

  • RBI and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) signed a MoU in Abu Dhabi to enhance cooperation and jointly enable innovation in financial products and services.
  • Under the MoU, the two central banks – RBI & CBUAE – will collaborate on various emerging areas of FinTech, especially Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and explore interoperability between the CBDCs of CBUAE and RBI.
  • Further, CBUAE and RBI will jointly conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) and pilot(s) of bilateral CBDC bridge to facilitate cross-border CBDC transactions of remittances and trade.

Bank of Baroda unveils co-branded debit card under TN govt scheme of financial aid to women graduates

  • Public sector Bank of Baroda has partnered with the Government of Tamil Nadu to offer co-branded RuPay Platinum Debit Card in the state offering customised solutions to its users.
  • Bank of Baroda has launched the debit card that would be offered to the beneficiaries of the state government’s ‘Pudhumai Penn’ scheme.
  • Accordingly, the card offers personal accident insurance coverage upto Rs 2 lakh per annum and the joining and annual fees for the first year has been waived off.

India’s GDP growth expected to drop 100 bps in FY24: CRISIL

  • India’s GDP growth is expected to decelerate 100 bps in FY24 due to slowing global growth on the back of elevated inflation and aggressive rate hikes by major central banks.
  • Further, the full impact of RBI’s rate hikes will manifest in FY24, which combined with continued volatility in crude and commodity prices, will weigh on growth.
  • Slowing global growth is also expected to reduce demand for India’s exports and affect domestic industrial activity in those sectors.

India approves capital acquisition of military hardware worth Rs 70,584 crore

  • India approved the capital acquisition of indigenously-developed military hardware worth Rs 70,584 crore as part of a mega procurement plan that is expected to significantly boost domestic defence manufacturing.
  • The approval to the procurement proposals was accorded by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
