IFFCO and Coromandel International to manufacture Nano DAP for 3 years

  • Fertiliser cooperative major IFFCO and Coromandel International Ltd (CIL) will manufacture Nano DAP for a period of three years.
  • IFFCO has informed that it is setting up a Nano DAP plant at its Kalol unit, Gujarat with a production capacity of 2 lakh bottles of 500 ml per day.
  • Nano DAP is the second product from the nano stable after nano urea that is being promoted in a big way by the government to cut subsidies and promote efficient use of plant chemicals.

  • During 49th Dairy Industry Conference,Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that India should set a target to contribute 330 million metric tonnes (MMT), or 33 per cent, of global milk production by 2033-34.
  • If two lakh new primary milk producing committees are formed (at panchayat level), then in coming years, India will have the capacity to become a contributor of 33 percent of global milk production.

  • The Ministry of Steel has signed 57 MoUs’ with 27 companies for specialty steel under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme.
  • An event to exchange of MoUs’ with companies was organised by the Ministry of Steel at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • Under the PLI scheme, the Government has approved Rs. 6322 crores to give a new impetus to the Steel sector.
  • Shri Scindia said that the PLI scheme is expected to generate an investment of about Rs. 30,000 Crores and additional capacity creation of about 25 Million Tonnes of specialty steel in the next 5 years.
  • India is set to become a power house of manufacturing which will increase the share of Steel in GDP from 2 to 5%.

Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurated the Global Millets Shree Anna Conference 2023 at Subramaniam Hall, NASC Complex, IARI Campus, PUSA New Delhi.
  • It is a two-day global conference on millets.
  • The Prime Minister also highlighted the unveiling of a commemorative coin and a postal stamp to mark the occasion along with the book launch on millet standards and the declaration of the Indian Institute of Millets Research of ICAR as a Global Centre of Excellence.
  • Based on India’s proposal, the year 2023 was declared the International Year of Millets (IYM) by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2021.

  • The Meeting of Heads of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Tourism Administrations under the Chairmanship of India was held in Varanasi.
  • The meeting was chaired by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy.
  • ‘Kashi’(Varanasi) has been declared as the First Tourism and Cultural Capital of SCO in September 16,2022 at Samarkhand,Uzbekistan.
  • The SCO Tourism Ministers finalised and approved the Joint Action Plan prepared for implementing the Agreement between the Governments of the SCO Member States on the Development of Cooperation in Tourism.
  • The meeting also adopted the Action Plan for ‘Year of Tourism Development in the SCO Space in 2023’.
  • The next meeting of the SCO Heads of Tourism Administrations will be held in Kazakhstan in 2024.

  • Using India’s Presidency of G20, the conference is organised by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the WHO (World Health Organisation) South-East Asia Regional Office.
  • The objective of the Global Conference on Digital Health is to shift the focus from planning to achieving impactful results in the member countries, through a set of digital health initiatives aiming to accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage.

  • A two-day 1st Labour 20 (L20) meeting has begun at Amritsar in Punjab.
  • Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, India’s largest labour organisation, is hosting the L20 inception meeting under India G20 presidency along with other leading trade unions of the country.

3rd annual edition of International SME Convention 2023 will to be organised in New Delhi

  • The 3rd annual edition of the International SME Convention 2023 will be organised in New Delhi.
  • The main focus areas of the convention are India’s major four Sunrise Sectors, which are Cleantech and Green Energy, Manufacturing, Services Sector and Agro Food Processing and Agri Implements sector.
  • Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane will inaugurate the three-day SME Convention.

Buyers from 17 countries to participate in Rajasthan International Expo

  • Rajasthan International Expo, which will be held in Jodhpur, will see the participation of buyers from 17 countries.
  • Chief minister Ashok Gehlot will formally inaugurate the three-day expo.
  • At the expo, 95 buyers mainly from the US, the UK, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Sweden, Thailand, the Netherlands, Colombia, Mexico, Ghana, Sudan, Senegal, Egypt, and Bolivia will be present.
  • In addition, 234 Indian buyers will participate in the expo, Rajiv Arora, chairman of Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation Ltd (RAJSICO) and Rajasthan Export Promotion Council.

Andhra Pradesh got 39 highway projects worth Rs 31,000 crore

  • A total of 39 national highway projects costing around Rs 31,000 crore have been either approved, sanctioned or under sanction in Andhra Pradesh in 2022-23, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
  • In the past three years, 134 national highway projects costing a total of Rs 58,318.29 crore and covering a total length of 3,605 km have been completed or under construction or awarded.

Nagpur to host Civil20 India Inception Conference 2023

  • Nagpur is ready to host the Civil20 India 2023 Inception Conference from March 20 to 22.
  • It will be inaugurated in the presence of spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi, Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis.
  • More than 200 delegates from India and abroad will be attending the conference.
  • C20 India 2023 is one of the official Engagement Groups of the G20 that provides a platform for Civil Society Organizations (CSO) around the world to voice the people’s aspirations to the world leaders in G20.

Tamil Nadu unveils Ethanol Blending Policy 2023

  • The Tamil Nadu government unveiled its ‘TN Ethanol Blending Policy 2023,’ with a mission to improve farmer income, revive the sugar industry and to attract investments worth Rs 5000 crore in molasses/grain based Ethanol production capacity.
  • The targets for the policy term are ”to be self-sufficient and meet the estimated Ethanol blending requirement of 130 crore litres.
  • To attract investments worth Rs 5,000 crore in molasses/grain-based Ethanol production capacity in the State.
  • Tamil Nadu government also announced a Logistics Policy and Integrated Logistics Plan (TNILP) 2023, that provides an overarching policy framework for integrated development of the logistics sector in the State to support economic growth.
  • The plan’s focus is on creation of infrastructure and growth of the logistics sector in the State and creation of 1.40-1.60 lakh direct and indirect jobs opportunities.

Gujarat government paid Rs 12,757 crores in power subsidy to farmers in two years

  • The Gujarat government paid Rs 12,757 crores to farmers as electricity subsidy in two years and has allocated Rs 10,970 crores for the same for the current financial year.
  • The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission has decided a tariff of Rs 2,400 per horsepower (HP) per year rate for agricultural consumers, but they pay Rs 665 per HP per year and the remaining Rs 1,735 per HP per year is paid by the state government to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) in the form of subsidy.

  • India should target USD 350 billion worth of goods export through e-commerce by 2030 and for that the government needs to address pain points of the sector by taking steps like formulating a separate policy, a report by economic think tank GTRI.
  • The Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) said the current e-commerce export provisions in India are a patchwork over the rules framed for regular B2B (business-to-business) exporters.
  • With Global business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce exports estimated to grow from USD 800 billion to USD 8 trillion by 2030.
