National Conclave “Unleashing the Potential of AgriTech Startups for the Benefit of Farmers,”
- Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in partnership with FICCI, CII & PHDCCI organised a National Conclave “Unleashing the Potential of AgriTech Startups for the Benefit of Farmers,”.
- The conclave aimed to discuss and identify comprehensive support systems for Agri Startups in India that will foster innovation, sustainability, and profitability and make their solutions accessible to farmers.
- The conclave also explored strategies to overcome challenges, leverage technology, and capitalize on market opportunities to empower Agri Startups and drive positive impact in the agriculture sector.
- FICCI organized two breakout sessions.
- The theme for session 1 was “The State Government’s Vital Role in Building enabling ecosystem for AgriTech in partnership with state governments”.
- The theme for Session 2 was “Enabling Digital Public Infrastructure in AgTech: Enabling access of data to agri startups through public digital goods”.

Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration in North Eastern State
- Nagaland has become the first State in the North Eastern Region to initiate Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration (ALBR).
- This pioneering initiative aims to streamline birth registration by integrating Aadhaar enrolment for children in the age group of 0 to 5 years.
- The initiative is anticipated to enable children’s access to various social welfare schemes designed for their welfare.
- Commissioner of Nagaland T. Mhabemo Yanthan urged the cooperation of State government officials to ensure the successful implementation of ALBR across all districts of Nagaland.
- The Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Nagaland, which serves as the Registrar for Birth and Death for the state, has collaborated with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as a Registrar cum Enrolment Agency for Child Enrolment via the ALBR process.

Schemes
'Mera Bill Mera Adhikar' scheme
- The GST lucky draw ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ scheme was launched in six states and Union Territories (Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Puducherry, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu).
- The Centre and states have set aside a Rs 30-crore corpus for this fiscal for the reward scheme.
PLI Scheme in Textiles
- The Centre has extended the date of inviting applications under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme in Textiles for a further two months.
- Fresh applications are invited till the 31st of October this year for Man-Made Fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF Fabrics, and products of Technical Textiles.
- The Ministry of Textiles stated that the decision was taken in view of the requests from the Industry stakeholders.
Banking and Finance
UPI crossed 10 billion transactions for the first time in August
- Unified payments interface (UPI), crossed 10 billion transactions in a month for the first time in August.
- As of August 30, UPI reported 10.24 billion transactions during the month and the transaction value stood at Rs 15.18 lakh crore, a month-on-month growth of 5 percent.
- In July, UPI platform had seen 9.96 billion transactions.
- During the month of August, UPI was doing around 330 million transactions a day.
ICICI Prudential GIFT Pro
- ICICI Prudential Life Insurance has launched a new income plan, ICICI Pru GIFT Pro, which provides customers the option to receive either a year-on-year increasing income or a constant regular income.
- In addition, the life cover component of this non-participating savings product ensures the family has financial security.
- It allows customers to customise the product to their unique needs by providing a choice of income benefits and premium payment terms, among other flexibilities.
- ICICI Pru GIFT Pro provides a range of premium payment terms from 5 to 12 years, letting customers save as per their convenience and goal timeline.
- From the 8th year onwards, they can start receiving income for as long as 30 years.
YES Bank goes live with UPI interoperability on CBDC
- YES Bank has gone live with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Interoperability on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) app.
- With this move, users will now be able to scan any UPI QR code through the YES Bank Digital Rupee app and undertake transactions in a seamless manner.
- This move is set to significantly expand the reach of the Digital Rupee (e₹) and underscores the bank’s commitment towards propelling digital innovations, and providing a wide range of transactional options for users across the nation.
- The first pilot in the Digital Rupee -Wholesale Segment (e rupeeW) commenced on November 1, 2022.
- It was followed by the first pilot for retail digital rupee (e rupee-R) was announced on December 1, 2022.

India’s GDP
- Global rating agency Moody’s has raised India’s growth forecast to 6.7% for 2023.
- This forecast is slightly higher than RBI’s projection of 6.5% for 2023-24.
- India has recorded a growth of 7.8% in the first quarter (April -June) of the current fiscal (FY24).
PhonePe launched Share.Market app
- PhonePe announced its foray into stock broking business with the launch of a new mobile application called ‘Share(dot)Market’, under its subsidiary PhonePe Wealth Broking.
- The Share(dot)Market app elevates the discount broking by providing market intelligence and quantitative research-based WealthBaskets, a scalable technology platform.
- It will be available as a mobile app and a dedicated web platform, enabling retail investors to buy stocks, engage in intra-day trades, buy curated WealthBaskets and mutual funds.

Mahindra Logistics signed pact with Flipkart for dedicated fleet of heavy commercial vehicles
- Mahindra Logistics Limited (MLL) announced a collaboration with Flipkart for providing a dedicated fleet of heavy commercial vehicles, assistance in route management and network operations, among others for the latter’s pan India operations.
- Under the partnership, Mahindra Logistics will operate 32 feet single axle HCVs for Flipkart in collaboration with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, which will run on multiple national routes, across the country.

CCI Director-General Atul Verma’s tenure extended by three months
- The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has extended the deputation of its Director-General Atul Verma by three months with effect from September 1 till November 30.

6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah
- The Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah throughout September 2023.
- POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Abhiyaan is a Multi-Ministerial Convergence Mission with the vision to ensure the attainment of Malnutrition Free India.
- The Government launched the POSHAN Abhiyaan, earlier known as National Nutrition Mission, on March 08, 2018, to address the problem of malnutrition in the country.

India's naval warship Mahendragiri launched in Mumbai
- Dr Sudesh Dhankhar, wife of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar launched the warship ‘Mahendragiri’ in Mumbai.
- The warship Mahendragiri is an engineering marvel, with state-of-the-art features and cutting-edge technology.
- A substantial 75 per cent of the orders for equipment and systems of the warship have been made to indigenous firms, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in line with the country’s resolute commitment to ‘Aatma Nirbharata’.
- The warship has been named after a mountain peak in the Eastern Ghats located in the state of Orissa.
- It is the last of the seven warships of the Nilgiri-class stealth frigates built under Project 17A.
- The ship is designed by the Indian Navy’s in-house design organization viz. Warship Design Bureau.
- It has been built using Integrated Construction methodology which involves hull blocks with parallel outfitting.
- The keel of Mahendragiri was laid on 28th June 2022, and the ship is expected to be delivered by February 2026.
- The vessel is being launched with an approximate launch weight of 3450 Tons.
