- Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, along with all notable guests jointly unveiled a book showcasing 75 success stories of climate resilience.
- This compendium, compiled by UNDP, highlights the significant role of the Mahatma Gandhi NREG Scheme program in strengthening the climate resilience of vulnerable communities.
- The technical assistance programme ‘Infrastructure for Climate Resilient Growth’ (ICRG), which was jointly conceived by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Government of United Kingdom, added value to the Mahatma Gandhi NREG Scheme by way of integrating climate change considerations into the planning and implementation of the Scheme.

- Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the Amrita Patel Centre of Public Health in Anand in Gujarat.
- Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health is a venture to pay tributes to our former Chairman, Dr. Amrita Patel.
- She was the first lady executive of Amul, then the first woman Managing Director, and finally the Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
- She was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2001.
- She also awarded ‘Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar’ by the Ministry of Environment & Forests for her significant contribution to the field of environment and also conferred with the prestigious Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Lifetime Achievement Award – the Krishi Shiromani Samman.

IRDAI appointed ManipalCigna Health as lead insurer for Karnataka

Business and Economy
GST Collections in August 2023
- The gross GST revenue collected in the month of August, 2023 is ₹1,59,069 crores of which CGST is ₹28,328 crores, SGST is ₹35,794 crores, IGST is ₹83,251 crore (including ₹43,550 crores collected on import of goods) and Cess is ₹11,695 crores (including ₹1,016 crores collected on import of goods).
- The government has settled ₹37,581 crores to CGST and ₹31,408 crores to SGST from IGST.
- The total revenue of Centre and the States in the month of August, 2023 after regular settlement is ₹65,909 crores for CGST and ₹67,202 crores for the SGST.
- The revenues for the month of August, 2023 are 11% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year.

Amazon India signed MoU with India Post
- Amazon India announced that it is opening up its logistics and order fulfilment infrastructure even for those D2C brands that do not sell on its platform.
- The e-commerce major also announced that it has inked a MoU with India Post to simplify cross-border logistics.
- It has strengthened its partnership with Indian Railways’ Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFC) of India for faster deliveries of seller orders to customers.
- This move will enable D2C brands across India to leverage Amazon’s logistics and supply chain capabilities to serve customers orders from various sales channels including their own website.

- Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Steel today inaugurated the ‘International Aerospace Conference: Moving Towards Inclusive Global Value Chains’ 2023 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
- It is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
- The International Aerospace Conference is a G20 initiative in the aerospace sector under G20 and B20 priority, focusing on developing inclusive global value chains for Global trade and Investment and aims to promote and strengthen trade and investment among the G20 countries.

Aditya-L1
- Aditya-L1 had been launched by PSLV C57 rocket from Sathish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
- The rocket is the XL variant with longer strap on motors carrying higher fuel quantity.
- Aditya’sL1 mission is to study the solar winds and the Sun’ s atmosphere.
- It carries seven payloads to observe the photosphere, chromosphere and the outermost layers of the Sun, the Corona.
- This will help understand the problems of coronal heating.
- Coronal mass ejection, pre-flare and flare activities, dynamics of weather and the study of the propagation of particles and fields in the interplanetary medium.
- India has till date launched 431 foreign satellites belonging to 36 countries since 1999 with its rockets and bulk of the numbers were by the PSLV rocket.
- The rocket has also been used to put into orbit 104 satellites in a single flight.

Warburg sold 4.2% in IDFC First Bank
- Cloverdell Investment, an affiliate of private equity major Warburg Pincus, sold 4.2% in IDFC First Bank.
- As of June 2023, Cloverdell had a 7.12% stake in IDFC First Bank.
- The PE major sold nearly 278.7 billion shares at Rs 89 apiece to mop-up Rs 2,480 crore.
- US-based GQG Partners shares worth Rs 1,527 crore, constituting a 2.6% stake.

Infosys completed acquisition of Danske Bank’s IT Centre in India
- Infosys had completed the acquisition of Danske Bank’s IT center in India.
- Danske Bank selected Infosys as a strategic partner to accelerate digital transformation initiatives with speed and scale, and this follows the announcement of the strategic collaboration with Danske Bank.

2023 Ramon Magsaysay Award
