Examination Pattern

SSC CGL consists of four tiers of examination. Tier 1 & Tier 2 are online based objective type exams. Tier 3 is descriptive type exam.

Syllabus for Tier 2

Tier 2 Consists of 4 papers in total which includes Quantitive Aptitude (paper 1), General English (paper 2) and for the post of Statistical Investigator and AAO candidates have to appear in paper 3 and paper 4 respectively.

PAPER 1- Quantitative Aptitude

It consists of 100 questions for a total of 200 marks. Every question carries a weightage of 2 marks and a negative mark of 0.50 for each wrong question.

PAPER 3:

For the Post of Statistical Investigator candidates have to appear for paper 3 which is for 200 marks.

Syllabus for paper 3:

Collection & Representation of Data, Measures of Central Tendency, Measures of Dispersion, Moments, Skewness & Kurtosis, Correlation & Regression, Probability Theory, Random Variables & probability Distributions, Sampling Theory, Statistical Inference, Analysis of variance, Time Series analysis, Index numbers.

PAPER 4:

For the Post of AAO the candidates have to appear for paper 4 which is for 200 marks

Syllabus for paper 4:

It consists of two parts A & B.

Part A – Finance & Accounting

  • Basic concepts of accounting
  • Financial Accounting

Part B – Economics & Governance

  • Comptroller & Auditor General of India – provisions, roles & responsibilities.
  • Finance Commission roles and functions
  • Demand & Supply theory
  • Money & Banking
  • Role of IT in Governance
