Indian Railway hints Lakhs of vacancies to be filled in 3 Years

Dear Aspirants,

Indian Railways, India’s largest employer with an employee strength of 13 Lakhs+ in roll have not recruited in a while since 2014 apart from the RRB ALP & Group D Recruitment which was released last year.

On 23rd January 2019, in a Press Conference, Mr. Piyush Goyal (Union Minister of Indian Railways) said, Railway is to fill 2,30,000 vacancies in the next three years (2019 & 2021).

The 2 lakhs 30 Thousand vacancies that are expected to be filled in the next two years will be a huge opportunity for the candidates preparing for the Railway Central Govt Jobs.

Indian Railways has not recruited for the posts lying vacant in various groups like Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D since 2014.

USD 150 Billion to be invested in Indian Railways

Additionally, Minister Piyush Goyal said the Central Govt looking to invest USD 150 Billion over the next five years on Railways Network that would help to create one million jobs additionally.

During the next five years, the Railways alone will be looking at an investment of upwards of USD 150 billion. And when I translate that into jobs, I see a million jobs being created only through investments in the railway sector.

The Railways can play an important role in “aggressively pursuing” government agenda to provide safe, secure, comfortable travel.

This could increase focus on infrastructure that brings local manufacturing to the next level. The board is also planning to electrify the Railway lines in just 4 years and this would help save the national transporter around Rs 10,000 crore per annum on fuel bill.

Post & Vacancy Details hint by Indian Railways

According to the information released by Ministry of Railways, Indian Railways has sanctioned a total strength of 15 Lakhs + Employees now, which is 2,30,000 higher than the current positions.

It means that around 2,30,000 Vacancies are lying vacant. The first phase of the fresh recruitment for 1,31,328 vacancies shall be conducted during February 2019 -March 2020.

It is also important to note that along this two year (2019 & 2020) the number of retirements in the Indian Railways sums up to 99,000. Individually, 53,000 and 46,000 Railway Employees are retiring in the forthcoming years, 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.

Selection Procedure for the 99,000 Vacancies will be conducted between May 2020 to August 2021.
