Is the TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam Conducted Every Year?

TNPSC stands for the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. TNPSC conducts exams and interviews to recruit candidates for vacancies and posts in the departments of the Tamil Nadu. If you wish to be a public servant working for the Tamil Nadu Government, you must attend the exams conducted by TNPSC. 

The exams conducted by TNPSC to recruit candidates for vacancies and posts in the departments of Tamil Nadu Government are the TNPSC Group 1 Exam, TNPSC Group 2 Exam, TNPSC Group 2A Exam, TNPSC Group 4 Exam, etc. 

Each TNPSC exam has different eligibility requirements. Therefore, to clear the TNPSC exams, it is necessary to prepare diligently according to the TNPSC-prescribed syllabus and exam pattern. TNPSC conducts the TNPSC exams every year. For example, this year, the TNPSC Group 2/2A exam date was tentatively scheduled to be held in May 2022 and the TNPSC Group 4 exam is tentatively scheduled to be held in July 2022.

TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam

The TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam is a combined civil service examination conducted the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. This exam tests the candidates for interview and non-interview posts. Both exams have a preliminary exam and the main exam. But the TNPSC Group 2 Exam will have an additional interview stage for the candidates. The TNPSC Group 2/2A preliminary examination has objective questions. This exam tests your general studies, general knowledge and mental aptitude. The TNPSC Group 2/2A Main Exam is descriptive in nature. It has two papers: Tamil Eligibility Test and General Studies.

The TNPSC Group 2 Exam also has an interview stage for candidates who have successfully cleared the TNSPSC Group 2 Mains Examination.

TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam Notification

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission issues the official notification for the TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam for the vacancies according to the tentative annual TNPSC Calendar. The official TNPSC Group 2/2A notification will be available on the official TNPSC website. TNPSC also publishes a short notice about the TNPSC Group 2/2A vacancies in Tamil and English newspapers without fail. 

TNPSC Group 2/2A Eligibility

Candidates must satisfy the following eligibility conditions to attend the TNPSC Group 2/2A Examination.

  1. They must be a citizen of India.
  2. They must have eligible characters and antecedents; they should not have existing criminal records.
  3. The candidate should not have more than one married partner.
  4. They must be eighteen years of age; the maximum age limits shall be available in the official TNPSC Group 2/2A notification.
  5. Candidates must have the educational qualification as per the post for which they are applying as mentioned in the official TNPC Group 2/2A notification. 
  6. They should not have a government service record of more than five years. This condition does not apply if they belong to SC or ST.
  7. All candidates must prove their physical fitness for the post.

TNPSC Group 2/2A Application Procedure

The application procedure for the TNPSC Group 2/2A is online. Candidates must visit and register on the official TNPSC website. 

Candidates must link their Aadhaar Cards for one-time registration on the TNPSC website before they register for the TNPSC Group 2/2A Examination. The TNPSC one-time registration is valid for five years. Candidates must renew the TNPSC one-time registration after that. A mobile number and an email are necessary for the one-time registration of TNPSC.

During the one-time registration, the candidates must upload a photograph and signature. After registration, candidates can apply for individual TNPSC posts by clicking on ‘APPLY’ next to the official TNPSC post notification. 

Details required during the registration: 

  1. SSLC Registration Number
  2. Certificate Number
  3. Month and Year of Graduation
  4. Medium of Instruction
  5. Name of the Board

Once these details are uploaded, candidates can edit these details only once. Candidates must request the approval of TNPSC to change the details for a second time. They must make these changes before applying for any post.

While applying for a post, the candidates can choose two exam centres. If they have a disability, they only need to choose one. After filling in all the details, the applicant can preview the application form. Then, they can check whether the application requires any changes. If they don’t want to make any changes, they can click the submit button. 

Candidates can pay the application fee for the TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam online through Net Banking, Credit/Debit cards or UPI. Candidates need to ensure that they do not press the refresh or back button throughout the payment process. 

TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam Preparation

Many institutions provide training for the TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam. Candidates can look for TNPSC class videos, TNPSC live courses and TNPSC study materials or notes from which they can prepare for the TNPSC Group 2/2A Exam.
