The application process for NDA 1 exam 2024 commenced on December 20, 2023, and concluded on January 9, 2024. For NDA 2 exam 2024, the application form will be available from May 15, 2024, until June 4, 2024. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for these exams, and the application must be submitted online.
To apply for the NDA exam, candidates should follow these steps:
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the NDA eligibility criteria along with the recent NDA notification 2023. Interested candidates must carefully review the NDA eligibility parameters, including age limits, educational qualifications, and physical and medical standards. NDA Physical Eligibility, such as height, weight, chest measurement, and eyesight, is crucial for selecting candidates. Candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as failure to meet the specified criteria may lead to the cancellation of their candidature at any stage of the recruitment process as per the NDA Notification 2023.
The National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is designed to identify suitable candidates for the Indian Armed Forces. Successful candidates, spanning all three services—Army, Navy, and Air Force—undergo training before proceeding to pre-commissioning training in their respective academies. In April and September, the UPSC conducts the NDA exam twice yearly to select qualified male and female candidates for various defence services. Since 2021, female candidates have also been deemed eligible for National Defence Academy (NDA) admission. Both male and female candidates who have completed their Class 12th or an equivalent qualification can apply for the exam as per the NDA Notification. For NDA 2 in 2023, the age limit stipulates that only unmarried male and female candidates born between January 2, 2005, and January 1, 2008, are eligible to participate in the exam.
Candidates who clear the written exam proceed to the SSB Interview stage, marking a crucial step in the selection process. Candidates must be well-versed with these details to navigate the application process effectively.

Degenerative Disc Disease | A condition where the discs between the vertebrae of the spine break down, leading to pain, weakness, and numbness. |
Presence of Schmorl’s nodes at more than one level | Schmorl’s nodes are small protrusions of the intervertebral disc into the vertebral body. Their presence at more than one level can indicate degenerative changes in the spine. |
Atlantooccipital and atlantoaxial anomalies | Anomalies or malformations in the joint between the skull and the first cervical vertebra (atlantooccipital joint) or the joint between the first and second cervical vertebrae (atlantoaxial joint). |
Loss of cervical lordosis when associated with clinically restricted movements of the cervical spine | Cervical lordosis refers to the natural curvature of the cervical spine. Loss of cervical lordosis can indicate a problem with the spine, especially when it is associated with restricted movements of the cervical spine. |

Incomplete block vertebrae are partially fused vertebrae. Complete block vertebrae are fully fused vertebrae. These conditions can occur at any level in the cervical, dorsal, or lumbar spine. |
Scoliosis is more than 15 degrees as measured by Cobb’s method | Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves sideways. Cobb’s method is a way to measure the degree of curvature in the spine. A scoliosis curve of more than 15 degrees is considered significant. |
Unilateral sacralisation or lumbarisation (complete or incomplete) at all levels and bilateral incomplete sacralisation or lumbarisation | Sacralisation and lumbarisation are conditions where the sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of the spine) or the lumbar vertebrae (the lower back) fuse together. Unilateral sacralisation or lumbarisation refers to the fusion of only one side, while bilateral incomplete sacralisation or lumbarisation refers to the fusion of both sides but not completely. |
Mention of any other disease by the specialist | The specialist may mention other diseases or conditions that affect the spine, such as granulomatous disease of the spine. |
