RRB NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) exam is conducted by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) for several non-technical posts. Application form, admit card, exam date and several other information is released on the official website of RRB. Posts that come under RRB NTPC exam can be divided into two categories that include undergraduate and postgraduate.

Undergraduate posts – Junior Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Ticket Clerk

Graduate posts – Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Clerk, Junior Account Assistant, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice, Station Master

RRB NTPC 2023 Vacancy

The total number of vacancies for RRB NTPC 2023 has not been declared, but it is estimated to be in the range of 30000 to 35000 for various posts. The exact number of RRB NTPC Vacancy will be made clear when the official notification will be released by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) on its website.

RRB NTPC Application Form

Application form for upcoming RRB NTPC Exam is expected to be released on the official website of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). After it is released, the application form will be available for about 30-40 days. Candidates should register for the exam before the last date of submission of application form.

RRB NTPC 2023 Eligibility Criteria

  • The age limit for undergraduate candidates is 18 to 30 years and for graduate candidates it is 18 to 33 years.
  • Age relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.
  • The citizens of India, Nepal and Bhutan are eligible for the RRB NTPC Exam. Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling permanently are eligible for the exam. Also candidates can apply for RRB NTPC of Indian origin from Burma, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Pakistan, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam and Kenya, with the intention of settling permanently.
  • Candidates cannot apply for the exam if they are in their final year or waiting for their results of school/graduation.

RRB NTPC 2023 Exam Pattern

The RRB NTPC Exam Pattern is divided into three phases, and a candidate must pass all three exams in order to be selected.

  • Skill/aptitude/typing test

CBT 1 Exam Pattern

It is a computer based examination which is conducted in online mode with a total of 100 questions from math, general intelligence & reasoning and general awareness. Each question is of 1 mark and ⅓ marks are detected for every wrong answer.

CBT 2 Exam Pattern

Candidates who have passed in CBT 1 exam are eligible for CBT 2 exam. The total number of questions are 120 with each question of 1 mark and ⅓ marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

RRB NTPC 2023 Syllabus

RRB NTPC Syllabus for both CBT-1 and CBT-2 exams are the same and the candidates have to go through similar topics for both the exams. The only difference is the level of questions that are asked in both the exams. 

Candidates need to prepare the same topics according to the different level of questions asked. To understand the difference, take multiple RRB NTPC Mock Test and sample question papers in order to perform better and answer correctly. It is recommended to pay special attention to the topics that are easy, as this will help to score better marks.

Math – Number system, elementary algebra, decimals, fractions, LCM & HCF, ratio & proportions, mensuration, time & work, simple and compound interest, profit & loss, time & distance, geometry, percentage & trigonometry and elementary statistics.

General Intelligence & Reasoning – Decision making, number series, coding-decoding, analogy, order and rank, alphabet & figure series, blood relation, odd pair, odd one out, logical arrangement of words, distance & direction, mathematical operations, puzzles, statement & conclusions and interpretation of graphs.

General Awareness – Current affairs, history, geography, biology, polity, Indian economy, chemistry, physics, books & authors, important dates, important world organisations, computer knowledge, environmental issues, art & culture, Indian literature, freedom struggle of India, government schemes and static GK.

Skill/aptitude/typing test- Candidates who passed the CBT-2 exam are eligible for this exam, which is a typing test on a computer. Candidates must type 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi in this test. This test is only conducted for specific posts.
