RRB NTPC 2023 Preparation: Subject-wise Preparation Tips & Strategy

RRB NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) is a national level examination conducted to recruit the candidates for various non-technical posts. The posts in NTPC can be divided in two categories that include undergraduate and graduate. Candidates who are preparing for exams should be aware of all important details. RRB NTPC 2023 Study Plan

RRB NTPC 2023 Exam Pattern

While preparing for RRB NTPC exam it is crucial to know about all the details of the exam pattern. The examination process is divided into three stages: Computer Based Test (CBT) 1, Computer Based Test (CBT) 2, and a skill/aptitude/typing test. Candidates must pass all exams in order to get selected.

CBT-1 exam has 100 questions of 1 mark each and CBT-2 has 120 questions of 1 mark each. For every wrong answer ⅓ marks are deducted as negative making.

In order to succeed in the test, candidates for the RRB NTPC Exam must maintain themselves well-versed in the RRB NTPC Syllabus and Exam Pattern.

Syllabus Of RRB NTPC 2023 Exam

The syllabus is an important element of preparation since knowing what topics to study and prepare for increases the chances of being selected for the RRB NTPC. CBT-1 and CBT-2, both have similar syllabus and candidates have to prepare similar topics for both the RRB NTPC Exams. Since the topics are similar but the level of questions asked varies, it is crucial to prepare RRB NTPC Study Plan accordingly.

Math – Number system, elementary algebra, decimals, fractions, LCM & HCF, ratio & proportions, mensuration, time & work, simple and compound interest, profit & loss, time & distance, geometry, percentage & trigonometry and elementary statistics.

General Intelligence & Reasoning – Decision making, number series, coding-decoding, analogy, order and rank, alphabet & figure series, blood relation, odd pair, odd one out, logical arrangement of words, distance & direction, mathematical operations, puzzles, statement & conclusions and interpretation of graphs.

General Awareness – Current affairs, history, geography, biology, polity, Indian economy, chemistry, physics, books & authors, important dates, important world organizations, computer knowledge, environmental issues, art & culture, Indian literature, freedom struggle of India, government schemes and static GK.

Preparation For Mathematics

Mathematics has 30 questions in CBT-1 exam and 35 questions in CBT-2 exam, which mainly come from class 10th and class 12th textbooks. These questions are asked in a tricky manner, therefore it is essential to keep speed and precision.

Tips and strategy – 

  • Understand the basics of all topics that are included in the syllabus and then move to more complex and challenging questions.
  • Prepare topics that are easy for you first, then move on to those that are more challenging and require more time to prepare.
  • Practice shorter methods to solve the mathematical problems as it will save time in exams while answering questions.
  • Keep more focus on those topics that carry higher weightage in exams.
  • Spend 2-3 hours every day practicing questions so that no topic gets neglected.

Preparation For General Intelligence & Reasoning

The CBT-1 exam contains 30 questions, while the CBT-2 exam contains 35 questions from various General Intelligence & Reasoning topics. This section is significant since it is a high-scoring section that can have a significant impact on your qualification.

Tip and strategy – 

  • To improve logical and analytical skills candidates must prepare 3 to 4 topics daily of general intelligence & reasoning.
  • To keep command over concepts, keep revising these topics at regular interval.
  • Study solved questions to better understand the topic and how to answer the questions.
  • Always try to read and understand a question carefully in order to figure out the correct answer.
  • Study RRB NTPC Mock Test and previous year’s question papers to get a sense of the types of questions that will be asked in the exam.

Preparation For General Awareness

General Awareness section in RRB NTPC exam has the highest weightage with 40 questions in CBT-1 and 50 in CBT-2. The syllabus of General Awareness is very vast due to which it becomes challenging.

  • Read newspapers and magazines on a regular basis to stay up to date on current affairs.
  • To know about books and authors, capitals and currencies, awards, honours and recognition, and other topics, read the most recent yearbooks from reputable publications.
  • Keep more focus on static GK as it is a crucial part of the General Awareness section.
