RRB NTPC 2023 Selection Process And Exam Pattern

RRB NTPC exam is one of the most renowned and popular exams for candidates who are aspiring to make a career in Indian Railways. Candidates who have completed their schooling and have a college degree can appear for this exam. RRB NTPC selection process comprises various stages such as first stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), second stage CBT, typing skill test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) (conducted as per posts), and document verification/medical examination. RRB NTPC exam pattern seems to be tough when it is first seen ,but if a candidates prepares well with a smart strategy, it is easy to crack.

RRB NTPC 2023 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are appearing for the RRB NTPC Exam have to make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria first. The criteria involve the following requirements:

  • The candidates have to be citizens of one of the nationals including India, Nepal and Bhutan.
  • The candidates should be no less than 18 years and no more than 30 years of age to be eligible for the exam.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a renowned university is expected of the candidates. For certain posts, candidates must have at least completed the 12th standard.
  • RRB has also laid certain medical standards that the candidates will have to clear to be eligible for the exam.
  • Final year students or candidates who are waiting for the result are not eligible to apply.

RRB NTPC 2023 Selection Process

The RRB NTPC recruitment test involves various stages which may vary depending on the post. The different stages include the following:

  • Preliminary exams
  • Mains
  • Typing test (specifically for posts including Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper)
  • Aptitude test (for posts including Traffic Assistant and Assistant Station Master)

RRB NTPC 2023 Exam Pattern

CBT-1

The first stage computer-based test is conducted for screening the aspirants. The exam duration is 90 minutes and for PWD candidates it is 120 minutes. For every incorrect answer, the students are penalized with a deduction of 0.25 marks.

CBT-2

The first stage of the exam is conducted to shortlist students for the second stage based on merit. The difficulty of the exam is likely to differ based on the post that you have applied for. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes and there is a negative marking of ⅓ of the marks assigned to the question for every question answered incorrectly.

Typing Skill Test

The candidates who have applied for jobs such as Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper etc. should be able to type 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute on a computer.

Document Verification

The candidates who clear CBT-1, CBT-2 and the typing test are called up to present their documents for verification.

Medical Examination

The selected candidates will then be called up for a medical examination. The applications of candidates found medically unsuitable for the specific post will not be processed further.

Admit Card

The RRB NTPC exam also generates an admit card for the appearing candidates will all the information that they filled in during the registration process. The card contains the following details:

  • The candidate’s name
  • Candidate’s date of birth
  • Photograph and the signature of the candidate
  • Registration number
  • Exam centre’s name
  • Date of the exam
  • Reporting time
  • Instructions for exam day

Registration Process

The candidates will have to complete the registration process once the RRB NTPC exam notification has been released by the Railway Board. Make sure that you follow the steps mentioned below to register yourselves for the exam. They include:

  • Visit the official RRB website of your respective region.
  • Press “Click here to apply”
  • Click on “New Registration” and then fill out the application form.
  • Make sure to fill in the personal details and educational qualifications. Then, upload your photograph and signature.
  • Finally, pay your application fee after which you should be registered for the RRB NTPC exam.

The fee can be paid online through internet banking, UPI, credit cards and debit cards. Transaction charges, if any, are to be borne by the candidates as well. The registration process may require your mail id and your phone number so make sure that you have them.
