SSC CPO Recruitment Written Exam Syllabus - Paper 1 & 2

The Staff Selection Commission of India conducts the SSC CPO examination every year to recruit personnel for CISF, CAPF and the Delhi Police. The posts available under this exam are Inspector, Sub-inspector, and Assistant sub inspector.

So, if you are planning to sit for this exam, then being aware of the SSC CPO syllabus and exam pattern is imperative. 

The examination will be conducted in the following order: Paper-I, Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Endurance
Test (PET), Paper-II and Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

SSC CPO Exam Pattern 2022

The SSC CPO exam will consist of two written papers, one physical test, and a medical test. The sequence begins with the SSC CPO tier 1 exam or Paper-I, followed by a Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper-II or Tier 2 exam, and finally, a Detailed Medical Examination (DME). All these stages of the examination are mandatory. Here are the details of the written papers:

  • Both papers will have Objective Multiple Choice Type questions.
  • Questions will be in two languages, Hindi and English, in Parts-I, II, and III of Paper-I.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I & Paper-II.
  • Marks scored in Computer Based Examination will be normalized.

SSC CPO Paper 1 Syllabus: 2022

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning, etc. The topics are Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & decoding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/ pattern-folding & unfolding, Figural Pattern- folding and completion, Indexing, Address matching, Date & city matching, Classification of centre codes/ roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/ numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence, etc. 
  • General Knowledge and General Awareness: Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates’ general awareness of the environment around them and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries, especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research, etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be the computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentages, Ratios and Proportions, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart. 
  • English Comprehension: Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his/ her basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested.

SSC CPO Paper 2 Syllabus: 2022

English Language and Comprehension: Questions in these components will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of the English Language and will be based on error recognition, filling in the blanks (using verbs, prepositions, articles, etc.), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of words, comprehension, etc.

SSC CPO Physical Endurance Test (PET): 2022

 

Male candidates

·       100-metre race in 16 seconds

·       1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes

·       Long Jump: 3.65 metre in 3 chances

·       High Jump: 1.2 metre in 3 chances

·       Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 metre in 3 chances

Female candidates

·       100-metre race in 18 seconds

·       800-metre race in 4 minutes

·       Long Jump: 2.7 metre in 3 chances

·       High Jump: 0.9 metre in 3 chances

SSC CPO Detailed Medical Examination (DME) :2022

All candidates who pass Paper II of SSC 2022 will be medically evaluated by the CAPFs’ Medical Officer or any other Medical Officer or Assistant Surgeon of Grade 1 of any central/state govt. hospital or dispensary. Candidates who are declared unsuitable for the post will be notified, and they will have 15 days to file an appeal with the Review Medical Board. The Review Medical Board’s decision is final.

Criteria for the Medical Examination:

  • Minimum Near Vision: N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye)
  • Minimum Distant Vision: 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye)
  • (Eye standards without visual correction of any kind)
  • Must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein, or squint in eyes
