SSC GD Salary structure, Pay scale , Promotion and Benefits

The candidates recruited for the post of General Duty Constable in various departments are eligible to enjoy multiple allowances and benefits. These allowances are paid over and above the basic salary. These allowances aim to support General Duty Constables meet the rising cost of living. 

These allowances include: 

1. Transportation Allowance: Since most people use different modes of transportation, this allowance covers their travel expenses.
2. Medical Facilities: The Government of India has set an amount for SSC GD Constables and armed forces. It is known as Fixed Medical Advance (FMA). A sum of ₹500 is granted to meet the day-to-day medical expenses. 
3. Pension Schemes: As a government employee, you are a member of the National Pension Scheme. A fixed sum gets deducted from the salary monthly and is invested in the equity market. Once retired, you will receive a pension from the same fund.
4. Annual Paid Leaves: An SSC GD Constable gets 21 annual paid leaves. It means that besides their usual and gazetted leaves, they can take up to 21 leaves a year. 
5. Security Allowances – These are the allowances given to the GD when engaged in fieldwork and are given a maximum of 15% of Basic pay decided by the 7th CPC. 
6. Field Allowances: Under this type of allowance, a General Duty Constable will get reimbursed for all the expenses incurred during field work. A number of expenses are covered under field allowances. 
7. Training Allowances: As per the 7th CPC, the constable salary in the training period is equal to 12% of your basic pay. It is applicable only when training is undertaken at one of the training establishments.
