SSC Stenographer exam is conducted yearly for the recruitment of Stenographer Grade „C‟ (Group „B‟, NonGazetted) and Stenographer Grade „D‟ (Group „C‟) for various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India
Age Limit - SSC Stenographer
(a) Stenographer Grade C: 18 to 30 years
(b) Stenographer Grade D: 18 to 27 years
Education Qualification - SSC Stenographer
Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognised Board or University.
Exam Pattern - SSC Stenographer
The Examination will consists of a written examination and Skill Test in Stenography.
1. Written Examination:
Written examination will consists of Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only. The questions except in Part III will be set both in English & Hindi.

Note-I: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
2. Skill Test in Stenography:
The candidates who qualify in the written examination will have to appear for the stenography test. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade -C‘ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade -D‘. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only.
The transcription time is as follows:
Stenographer Grade-D : 50 minutes ( English ); 65 minutes ( Hindi )
Stenographer Grade -C: 40 minutes ( English ); 55 Minutes ( Hindi )
