SSC Stenographer Recruitment is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission once in a year. The Recruitment includes various grade positions of Stenographer Grade C (Group B, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade D (Group C) for various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India.
SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has released the most expected notification of the year after the CGL Exam and aspirants can check the detailed notification of the Stenographer Grade “C” & “D” Recruitment in this post.
The Staff Selection Commission will hold an open competitive Computer Based Examination for recruitment of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) for various Ministries/ Departments/Organizations in the Government of India.

Apart from the Nationality / Citizenship of India, followings are the eligibility criteria that are required to be fulfilled by the aspirant applying for this SSC Stenographer Recruitment.
To apply for the Stenographer Grade C vacancies, a candidate must have been aged between 18 to 30 years as on the date mentioned on the Recruitment notification.
Age limit for the Stenographer Grade D Vacancies has been mentioned as 18 to 27 years.

Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
As per Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification No. 44 dated 01.03.1995 published in Gazette of India edition dated 08.04.1995, the Degree obtained through open Universities/Distance Education Mode needs to be recognized by Distance Education Council, IGNOU. Accordingly, unless such Degrees had been recognized for the period when the candidates acquired the relevant qualification, they will not be accepted for the purpose of Educational Qualification.
Candidates who have not acquired but will acquire the educational qualification and acquire documentary evidence from the Board/University in support thereof as on 01.08.2015 will also be eligible.
All candidates who are called for appearing at the Skill Test will be required to produce the relevant Certificate in Original such as Mark sheets, Provisional Certificate, etc. as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification on or before 01.08.2015failing which the candidature of such candidate will be canceled by the Commission.
The candidates who are able to prove, by documentary evidence that the result of the qualifying examination was declared on or before the cutoff date and he/she has been declared passed, will also be considered to have the required Educational Qualification.
Final Selection of the candidates will be made based on a Written Examination followed by Skill Test.
Written Examination: The Paper will have objective type questions.
Stenography Skill Test: The candidates who qualify the written examination will be called for typing test.
The written examination will be consisting of objective type questions.
The questions will be set also in Hindi for only Part 1 & Part 2.
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.

It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type.
The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person.
The test will also include questions relating to India and its Neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research, etc.
In addition to the testing of candidates’ understanding of the English, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability, would also be tested.
The candidates who qualify in the written examination will have to appear for the stenography test. The SKILL TEST will be the QUALIFYING NATURE for the final merit list and the Commission will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates.
The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade – C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade – D.
The matter will have to be transcribed on the computer only.
For Stenographer Grade “D” – 50 minutes (English); 65 minutes (Hindi)
For Stenographer Grade “C” – 40 minutes (English); 55 minutes (Hindi)
Candidates who cleared the written examination and qualified in Skill Test will be qualified for the Document Verification.
The candidates’ list for the Document Verification will be based on the performance of Written Examination only.
After going threw the Document Verification process, the final list of the selected candidates will be made available on the Official website of SSC.
Candidates who opt to take the Stenography Test in Hindi will be required to learn English Stenography and vice versa after their appointment, failing which their probation may not be cleared by appointing departments. Candidates have to work as English / Hindi stenographers as per the functional requirement of the User Office irrespective of the medium of Skill Test of the candidate during the examination.
