Village Administrative Officer (VAO) is one of the most preferred choices of exams conducted by TNPSC. The VAO exam will be conducted once per year by Tamilnadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).

Rs. 5,200 – 20,200/- + 2,400- G.P (Pay Band – 1)

(Rs.18,000/- to Rs.19,000/- will be paid as a first-month salary)

Candidates shortlisted/recruited as VAO by TNPSC will be promoted as an Assistant after 6 years of service. He/she would have to clear a Departmental Exam to get Assistant Post in Revenue Department.

Note:

OC (Others) – Candidates not belonging to SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DNC, BC, and BCM & the candidates, who have worked for 5 years in the state/central government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.

Candidates should possess the following or its equivalent qualification on the date of notification. Must possess minimum general educational qualification viz. Must have passed the S.S.L.C public examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to higher secondary courses of studies or to college courses of studies.

Note: The applicants who have not passed S.S.L.C examination or its equivalent are not eligible even if they possess a higher qualification.

Since Village Administrative Officers (VAO) are to work with/for the people of Tamilnadu, they should have to be fluent in (or) know to read and write the Tamil language. Candidates who haven’t studied Tamil as the subject will have to undergo for a Tamil proficiency test after clearing the exam.
