Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a Recruitment body that was started with an aim to encourage the recruitment and placement of young graduates in Public Sector Banks in India. It also provides standardized systems for assessment and result processing services to organizations.

IBPS Clerk Job Profile
A Clerk mostly assigned to a Branch or Regional / Zonal / Head Office of the Bank will be a ‘Single Window Operator’ who performs daily office and accounts related tasks in a bank.
As clerk is the first point of contact for inquiries & guidance, you will deal with the front desk work and customer handling operations.
There are various other clerical roles you could be involved in as a bank clerk to help keep the bank in order. Bank Clerk Post will be categorized as Interest Clerk, Loan Clerk, Statement Clerk, Exchange Clerk, Security Clerk & Bookkeeping Clerk.

- Single window operations like managing inquiries, withdrawal, managing receipts
- A clerk also deals with opening new accounts, cash collection, issuing bank statements and handling emails and delivery.
- Handling deposits and cash withdrawals
- Taking charge of the receipt of cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, and pay orders

IBPS Clerk Salary & Perks
An IBPS Clerk will receive an exalted salary along with Special allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), CAA, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) etc.
According to the Bank and Location of the Branch, the Pay Scale of the IBPS Clerk will naturally oscillate between Rs 14,000 – Rs 22,000.
Basic Pay of the IBPS Clerk will be Rs. 10,400 – 14,300/-
Dearness Allowance: DA is revised quarterly and is based on the Consumer Price Index as declared by the banks i.e. DA can go up with higher CPI and vice versa.
House Rent Allowance: House Rent Allowance will be allotted to you according to the place of posting. And it can be 6.00% to 7.50% of the salary depending upon metros, big cities, and other locations.
Medical Allowance: This allowance is paid annually and for an IBPS clerk, it is fixed at Rs 2000.
An IBPS Clerk also gets transport allowance which is approximate of Rs. 400/-.
