India’s first 3D-printed post office
- Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually inaugurated the nation India’s first 3D-printed post office located in Bengaluru’s Cambridge Layout.
- The General Post Office building, was completed in just 43 days.
- The post office covers a built-up area of 1,021 sq feet.
Shri Parshottam Rupala launched 'A-HELP' Programme and Infertility Camp for Livestock under Inclusive Development at Narmada, Gujarat
- Union Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala has unveiled the ‘A-HELP’ (Accredited Agent for Health and Extension of Livestock Production) programme along with an Infertility Camp, in Gujarat.
- The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying is responsible these initiatives as part of the Pashudhan Jagrati Abhiyaan under Inclusive Development.
- ‘A-HELP’ programme and the Infertility Camp can mark a significant stride towards empowering women, enhancing livestock productivity, and advancing the socio-economic landscape of the region.
- The programme aims to empower women by engaging them as trained agents who contribute significantly to disease control, artificial insemination under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), animal tagging, and livestock insurance.

19th Meeting of the Maritime State Development Council
- The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal chaired the 19th meeting of the Maritime State Development Council (MSDC) at Kevadia in Gujarat.
- The discussions focused upon significant issues pertaining to the overall progress of the maritime sector.
- Maritime State Development Council (MSDC) was constituted in the year 1997, by Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
- It is an apex advisory body for the development of maritime sector aimed to ensure development of Major and Non- Major ports in consultation with State governments.

Reserve Bank of India launched Unclaimed Deposits Gateway to Access Information portal for searching unclaimed deposits across multiple banks
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched a centralised Web portal, UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits Gateway to Access Information), for members of the public to make it easier to search their unclaimed deposits across multiple banks at one place.
- UDGAM, which was launched by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, will aid users in identifying their unclaimed deposits and accounts and enable them to either claim the deposit amount or make their deposit accounts operational at their respective banks.
- To begin with, users would be able to access the details of their unclaimed deposits in respect of seven banks (State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India, Dhanlaxmi Bank, South Indian Bank, DBS Bank India, and Citibank N.A.) presently available on the portal.
- The search facility for the remaining banks on the portal would be made available in a phased manner by October 15, 2023.

Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank launched banking services on WhatsApp
- Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) Chairman, Shreekant M Bhandiwad launched WhatsApp banking services in Dharwad.
- The WhatsApp banking channel would enable customers to seamlessly connect with the bank on the social media platform, and effortlessly avail of a host of banking services.
- They would be able to get to know the balance in their account, history of the last five transactions, and information about bank deposits / loan products, the rate of interest and digital products.
- Customers should first save the official KVGB WhatsApp number (9278700859) to activate the banking facility and initiate a conversation (on WhatsApp) by sending a ‘hi’ to the number.
Canara Bank launched Canara Jeevan Dhara savings bank account for pensioners
- Canara Bank has introduced Canara Jeevan Dhara, a special savings bank account for pensioners, and prospective pensioners.
- All the employees who retired on a voluntary basis or normal retirements are also eligible.
- The bank offers two variants depending on the pension credit. Diamonds account is for up to Rs 50,000 and Platinum account is for above Rs 50,000.
- Interest rate on Jeevan Dhara savings account will be same as regular savings account which ranges from 2.90% to 4% depending on the balance in the account.

By 2026 India’s digital economy will contribute 20% to GDP
- Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar told that India’s digital economy has been seeing accelerated growth and is expected to account for 20% of the country’s GDP by 2026.
- Our digital economy was 4.5% of the GDP in 2014 and now it is 11%.

Central Water Commission launched FloodWatch mobile app
- The Chairman of Central Water Commission Kushvinder Vohra launched the FloodWatch mobile app in New Delhi
- The app has been launched for real time flood forecast situations across the country and aims to disseminate information related to the flood situation and forecasts up to seven days on a real-time basis.
- The app utilizes advanced technologies such as satellite data analysis and real-time monitoring to deliver accurate and timely flood forecasts.

SJVN signed two agreements to supply 1,200 MW solar power to Punjab
- Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN Ltd) has inked two pacts with Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) to supply 1,200 MW of solar power from its projects, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
- PSPCL had floated tenders for procurement of power from solar projects located in Punjab and other parts of the country.
- SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), SJVN’s arm, proposed the rate of Rs 2.53 per unit for the supply of 1,000 MW and Rs 2.75 per unit for another 200 MW.

- Kamlesh Chandra Varshney is currently serving as joint secretary at the Department of Revenue and Amarjeet Singh is an executive director at the Sebi.

Wahab Riaz announced retirement from international cricket
- Pakistani pace bowler Wahab Riaz announced his retirement from international cricket.
- He picked up 237 wickets in 154 internationals, including three five-wicket hauls.
- He made his international debut back in 2008, is best remembered for bowling one of World Cup history’s most fiery spells against Australia’s Shane Watson in 2015.

Dutee Chand banned for four years for failing dope tests
- Indian athlete Dutee Chand has been banned for four years by National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for failing two out-of-competition dope tests for selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) in December 2022.
- She is India’s fastest female athlete and holds the 100m national record at 11.17s, which she achieved at the Indian Grand Prix (IGP) 4 in Patiala in June 2021.

- Indian grappler Priya Malik won Gold medal by beating Laura Celine Kuehn of Germany at the 2023 U20 World Wrestling Championships in Jordan.

- In 2022, Antim Panghal had been the first woman from India to win a junior world title in wrestling.

President launched indigenously built warship Vindhyagiri
- President Droupadi Murmu launched the ship ‘Vindhyagiri’, a Project 17A Frigate at the dock on the banks of the river Hooghly in Kolkata.
- The ship was built by Garden Reach Ship-builders and Engineers (GRSE).
- The ship was named after the ‘Vindhya’ ranges, which have been a symbol of fortitude.
- This is the sixth of seven ships built under ‘Project 17 Alpha’ for the Navy.
- The first five ships of the project were launched between 2019 and 2022.
- This is also the third and last stealth frigate that GRSE built for the Navy under the project.
