Ms Meenakashi Lekhi inaugurated exhibition Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Virasat
- National Archives of India is celebrating International Archives Day on 9 June 2023 and on this occasion, an exhibition under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) entitled Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Virasat will be organised.
- Ms Meenakashi Lekhi, Minister of State for Culture, Government of India, inaugurated the exhibition.
- The Exhibition will present a selection of original manuscripts drawn from the annals of the archival repository (such as the birch-bark Gilgit manuscripts, Tattvartha Sutra, Ramayana, and Srimad Bhagwad Gita, among others), official files of the government, proscribed literature under the colonial regime, private manuscripts of eminent personalities, as well as from the rich collection of rare books held in the NAI Library.
- The Exhibition would include among the most ancient in the world – the Gilgit Manuscripts, the oldest surviving manuscript collection in India.
- The birch bark folios (documents written on pieces of inner layer of the bark of birch trees; birch bark is known for its resistance to decay and decomposition) contain both canonical (sacred) and non-canonical Buddhist works that throw light on the evolution of Sanskrit, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Mongolian, Machu and Tibetan religious-philosophical literature.

Shri Sarbananda Sonowal launched ‘SAGAR SAMRIDDHI’ to bring transparency & efficiency
- Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) and Ayush Shri Sarbananda Sonowal launched ‘SAGAR SAMRIDDHI’ the online dredging monitoring system – in order to accelerate ‘Waste to Wealth’ initiative of the Ministry.
- Secretary of MoPSW Sudhansh Pant along with other senior officials of the Ministry, Major Ports and Organisations also attended this programme.
- This system has been developed by National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways and Coasts (NTCPWC) the technological arm of MoPSW.
- The new technology brings in marked improvement against the old system of Draft & Loading Monitor (DLM) system.
- The system will bring in synergy among multiple input reports like daily dredging report, the pre and post dredging survey data before processing and producing real time dredging report.
- The ‘Sagar Samriddhi’ monitoring system will also allow Daily and monthly progress Visualisation, Dredger performance and downtime monitoring, easy location track data with snapshot of loading, unloading and idle time.
- This system strengthens the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India vision of PM Modi.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal chaired 6th Mission Steering Group meeting of National Technical Textiles Mission
- Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal chaired the 6th Mission Steering Group meeting of the National Technical Textiles Mission in New Delhi.
- He said that international benchmarking, deliberations with the industry, and demand assessment are critical to identifying high-value and high-volume potential products to catalyze research and innovation in Technical Textiles in India.
- Ministry of Textiles approved 20 Research and Development projects worth over 61 crores rupees across key strategic areas of Geotech, Protech, Indutech, Sustainable Textiles, Sportech, Buildtech segments, and Carbon Fibre and Ultra High Molecular Weight Poly Ethylene during the MSG meeting.

India will host the Miss World 2023 beauty competition after 27 years
- India will host the Miss World 2023 competition after nearly three decades.
- The much anticipated 71st edition of the Miss World competition is likely to take place in November this year.
- The reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska was crowned in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
- India last hosted the international pageant in 1996.
Amazon signed pact with ICAR to empower farmers enrolled under Kisan store
- E-commerce firm Amazon India signed an agreement with the government’s premier agri-research body ICAR to guide farmers enrolled on its ‘Kisan store’ on scientific cultivation of different crops and help them achieve optimum yield and income.
- A ‘Kisan store’ section was launched on the Amazon platform in September 2021.
- Farmers can avail doorstep delivery of agri input products via Kisan store through assisted shopping at Amazon Easy stores.
- The outcomes from a pilot project at Pune between Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Amazon India has motivated to further expand the partnership, the company said in a statement.
- On behalf of ICAR, U S Gautam, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), and Siddharth Tata, Product Leader, Amazon Fresh Supply Chain and Kisan, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

- US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin two days visit to India.
- One of the key outcomes of the visit was the conclusion of a new Roadmap for U.S.-India Defense Industrial Cooperation.
- This roadmap aims to expedite technology cooperation and co-production in areas such as air combat, land mobility systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, munitions, and the undersea domain.
- The initiative seeks to transform the cooperation between the defence sectors of both nations, allowing India access to cutting-edge technologies and supporting its defence modernization plans.

BCI signed MoU with Bar Council of England and Wales for exchange of students, lawyers for training
- Bar Council of India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Bar Council of England and Wales and Law Society of England and Wales for an exchange programme of lawyers and students for training and learning about each other’s jurisdiction.
- The regulatory body also informed the necessary changes will be made in the regulations very soon to allow the registration of foreign lawyers and law firms.

Odisha approved Rs 3,457 crore investment proposals
- The Odisha government has approved 18 investment proposals worth Rs 3,457 crore which will generate employment for at least 14,436 people.
- The proposals were approved at the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) chaired by chief secretary P K Jena.
- The panel also recommend two Industrial projects to HLCA (High-Level Investment Authority).
- Ten out of 18 investment proposals were received during the Make in Odisha Conclave 2022.

GAME, SIDBI will design NBFC growth accelerator programme
- Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship (GAME) has received in-principal approval from SIDBI for designing and structuring a sustainable and scalable NBFC Growth Accelerator Program (NGAP).
- In the first phase, the programme involves the design of a comprehensive, actionable, granular report with the programme structure, piloting strategy and implementation plan for NGAP by GAME.

Life Insurance Corporation increased stake in SAIL by 2.001% to 8.687%
- Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India increased its stake in the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) by 2.001 per cent to 8.687 per cent from 6.686 per cent earlier.
- LIC now owns 358.8 million shares of the steel major.
- LIC bought 19 million shares or 2.01 per cent of equity capital at an average price of Rs 1,050.77 per unit.

World Accreditation Day
- World Accreditation Day is an annually observed on June 9.
- It aims at recognizing and promoting the role of accreditation across various sectors.
- This day aims to raise awareness about the value and benefits of accreditation in ensuring competence, reliability, and credibility in industries such as healthcare, laboratories, certification bodies, and conformity assessment services.
- World Accreditation Day came into existence in 2007 as a result of a joint effort between the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
- The initial commemoration occurred in 2008 and cantered around the theme “Accreditation: Delivering Trust in the Global Market.”

India, France, UAE began joint maritime exercise
- The navies of India, France and the United Arab Emirates have carried out a two-day mega wargame in the Gulf of Oman reflecting their growing cooperation to deal with challenges in the maritime sphere.
- It was the first edition of the wargame involving navies of the three countries.
- Indian Naval ship INS Tarkash, French ship Surcouf, French Rafale aircraft and the UAE Navy’s maritime patrol aircraft participated in the exercise.

India flight-tested new-gen ballistic missile ‘Agni Prime’
- ‘Agni Prime’, the new-generation ballistic missile, was successfully flight-tested from an island off the Odisha coast.
- The test was conducted from the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and all objectives were successfully met.
- This was the first pre-induction night launch conducted after three successful developmental trials of the missile, validating the accuracy and reliability of the system.
