2nd Joint Working Group meeting of India-UK Electric Propulsion Capability Partnership
- The 2nd India-UK Electric Propulsion Capability Partnership Joint Working Group meeting took place in New Delhi.
- The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary (Naval Systems), Department of Defence Production Rajeev Prakash and Director, Ships Operations and Capability Integration, Defence Equipment & Support Rear Admiral Steve McCarthy.
- During the meeting, both sides discussed issues of the Electric Propulsion Partnership like finalisation of Statement of Technical Requirements (SOTR), Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures, maintenance, Manning Philosophy and System Integration requirement.

9th Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Lithuania
- India and Lithuania held their 9th Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in New Delhi.
- The FOC provided an opportunity for reviewing bilateral engagements and for exchanging views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, including the Ukraine conflict, India’s Presidency of G20, cooperation in multilateral fora, and United Nations Security Council reforms.

President of India visited Odisha
- The President of India, Droupadi Murmu flagged off three new trains namely Badampahar – Tatanagar MEMU; Badampahar – Rourkela Weekly Express; and Badampahar – Shalimar Weekly Express from Badampahar Railway Station, Odisha.
- She also virtually inaugurated the new Rairangpur Postal Division; released a Commemorative Special Cover of Rairangpur Postal Division; and laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of Badampahar Railway station on the occasion.
- And also inaugurated L&T Skill Training Hub in Mayurbhanj, Odisha.
- The initiative is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by the company and is built on five acres of land.
- The centre was constructed in five months.

Reliance to invest ₹20,000 crores in West Bengal in next three years
- Reliance Industries will invest ₹20,000 crores in West Bengal in the next three years.
- Reliance had invested close to ₹45,000 crores in West Bengal.
- Participating in the seventh edition of Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), the Reliance Industries chairperson said that the investments will be in three areas – digital life solutions through Jio 5G solutions, Reliance Retail and Bio energy.

Haryana Approved 100 Crore Aqua Park for Fisheries Excellence
- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Animal Husbandry Minister J.P Dalal approval had been granted for the construction of an Integrated Aqua Park Centre of Excellence in village Garwa of district Bhiwani with an estimated cost of ₹100 crore.

Schemes
FDODO CNG Scheme of Gujarat
- Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved the Full Dealer Owned Dealer Operated-(FDODO) CNG scheme which will be implemented by Gujarat Gas Limited and Sabarmati Gas Limited.
- The decision has come in the wake of government’s approach of developing CNG stations through PPP model to promote green-clean environment and green mobility in the state.
- The state government maintains that the selection for this scheme will be completely based on a transparent selection process.
- Gujarat for the records has developed gas grid network spread throughout the state and many districts are connected to this gas network, and has as many as 1002 CNG station.
- With this s Full Dealer Owned scheme based on PPP model approved, the coverage of CNG stations in the state and easy availability of CNG fuel easily available to CNG vehicle owners will increase rapidly.
Changes in Senior Citizen's Savings Scheme
- Centre has relaxed seven key norms for of the Senior Citizen’s Savings Scheme.
- As mentioned earlier, the government has provided three months to invest in SCCS for individuals aged above 55 but below 60. Currently, investment has to be made within one month of receipt of retirement benefits.
- The scope of retirement benefits has been clearly defined. As per the notification, retirement benefit means any payment received by the individual due to retirement or superannuation.
- The new rules also permit the spouse of a government employee to invest the financial assistance amount in the scheme.
- Under the updated rules, a 1% deduction of the deposit is applicable if the account is closed before completing one year of investment. Earlier, if account closed before one year, no interest will be payable and if any interest paid in account shall be recovered from principle.
- Account holders can now extend the account for any number of blocks, with each block lasting three years. Previously, the extension was allowed only once.
- In the case of extending the SCSS account on maturity, the deposit will earn the interest rate applicable to the scheme on the date of maturity or on the date of the extended maturity.
- As per the notification, “The deposit made at the time of opening of account shall be paid on or after the expiry of five years or after the expiry of each block period of three years where the account was extended under paragraph 8 from the date of opening of account. Provided that after the closure of the existing account or accounts, new accounts or accounts may be opened again as required by the depositor subject to the maximum deposit limit.”

- Cashfree Payments, the SBI-backed digital payment solutions provider, introduced ‘KYC Link’ a no-code verification system designed to streamline Know Your Customer (KYC) processes for businesses.
- KYC Link facilitates easy verification through SMS, email, or WhatsApp.
- KYC Link is India’s first no-code verification solution.
- It eliminates the need for extensive technical expertise, allowing businesses to adopt KYC solutions and accelerate revenue generation from newly onboarded users.

Yara India signed MoU with HarvestPlus for enhancing crop nutrition
- Yara India, a subsidiary of the leading crop nutrition company Yara International, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HarvestPlus Solutions (HPS) to seamlessly incorporate nutrient-rich seeds and foods into global agricultural systems, helping vulnerable communities to boost their intake of essential vitamins and minerals.
- A pilot programme, already underway in Gorakhpur of Uttar Pradesh, intends to motivate 500 farmers to adopt the zinc wheat value chain.
- The primary objective of the pilot is to evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness and impact of the approach, before expanding its reach to benefit a larger number of farmers and communities.

e-registration portal for Sari Walkathon
- Union Minister of State for Textile Darshana Jardosh launched the e-registration portal for the Sari Walkathon in New Delhi aimed to promote the handloom sari culture of India.
- The walkathon will be organized at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority on December 10 2023.
- Participants can enroll for the sari walkathon with this e-portal in which registration will be OTP-based.

- Lakshmi Ramakrishna Srinivas, one of the pioneers in the field of banking, has been appointed as Additional Director of South Indian Bank.
- She has been appointed as a non-executive independent director of the bank for a period of three years from November 20, 2023.

First woman to bag Dhahan Prize for Punjabi literature
- Mohali-based Deepti Babuta has become the first woman to bag the Dhahan Prize, the largest international literary award for fiction books in Punjabi language.
- received the award for her short story collection, ‘Bhukh Eon Sah Laindi Hai’ (‘Hunger Breathes Like This’).
- She was presented with a cash award of $25,000 CAD and a trophy at a ceremony held at Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
- Alongside her, two other finalists — Lahore-based Jameel Ahmad Paul and Mohali’s Balijit were awarded $10,000 CAD each.
- This is for the first time in its 10-year history that the top prize has gone to a woman.
