The NICL AO (Prelims) Exam 2023 consists of an online objective test (MCQs) for 100 marks. This exam is conducted online (Applicable for all disciplines except Hindi Officers) and held for a duration of 60 minutes.

The NICL AO (Mains) Exam 2023 consists of an objective test (MCQs) for 250 marks and a Descriptive Test for 30 marks. Both the objective test and descriptive test will be held online. Candidates will have to answer the Descriptive Test by typing on the computer after the completion of the objective test.
The objective test will be conducted for a total of 250 marks for 3 hours.
There is a negative marking of one-fourth of the marks for every wrong answer in the Mains Exam.

Descriptive Test:
The descriptive test will be a test of English Language for a total of 30 marks. There will be an Essay for 10 Marks, Precis for 10 Marks and Comprehension for 10 Marks in this descriptive test. The descriptive Test will be in English and will be conducted for a total of 30 minutes.
Candidates will be required to obtain a minimum cut-off under each section separately in the objective test to be shortlisted for the Descriptive Test evaluation, i.e. The descriptive answer script would be evaluated only for those candidates who have qualified with the specified marks for the objective test.
The descriptive test will be qualifying in nature and the marks scored in the Descriptive test will not be counted towards shortlisting for interview or final selection.

The basic pay for an administrative officer (AO) from the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) would be ₹ 50,925 on the scale of ₹50,925-2500(14)-85,925-2710(4)-96,765 and such other allowances. Candidates selected as Administrative Officers (Specialist cadre) may be required to continue in the same specialisation for a minimum period of 10 years as per the discretion of NICL. They will, however, continue to be eligible for promotions as per NICL norms as described by the Indian Government.
Candidates interested in applying for the Generalist discipline of the Administrative Officer cadre should be a graduate or a postgraduate in any stream from a recognized university with at least 60 per cent marks in either of the degree examinations (at least 55 per cent for SC/ST candidates).
