SSC JE – Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The Selection Process of the SSC Junior Engineer Recruitment will be consisting of a Common Written Examination followed by an Interview. The Exam Pattern details are provided below.

Phase 1: Written Test (500 marks) 

Phase 2: Interview (100 marks)

SSC JE Recruitment – Paper II Exam Pattern

Conventional / Descriptive Type Paper

Part-A) General Engineering (Civil & Structural) /

Part-C) General Engineering (Mechanical)

300 Marks

2 Hours

(2 Hours 40 Mins for the candidates who are allowed use of scribe)

NOTE-1:

Candidates can bring their own Slide-Rule, Non-Programmable Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II only. They are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I.

NOTE-2: 

Paper-I will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice questions only. Answer sheets of Paper-II (Conventional Type) will be evaluated in respect of only those candidates who qualify in Paper-I at the standard as decided/fixed by the Commission at its discretion.

Penalty for Wrong Answers - SSC JE Recruitment

There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. 

If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate; there will be no penalty for that question.

Personal Interview - SSC JE Recruitment

Those candidates, who secure at least the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, will be eligible to appear in the Interview. The interview will be held at places as may be decided by the Commission. 

A candidate should qualify both in the written and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process.

Final Allotment - SSC JE Recruitment

On completion of the interview process, depending on the vacancies to be filled in during this financial year based on the business needs of the Participating Organisations and as reported to SSC, candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organisations, based on merit-cum-preference keeping in view the spirit of Govt. 

Guidelines on reservation policy, various guidelines issued by Govt. of India/ Others from time to time, administrative exigency, etc. In the event of two or more candidates having obtained the same score, merit order is decided as per date of birth (the candidate senior in age is placed before/ above the candidate junior in age), as per the prevailing practice.
