The One Time Registration (OTR) required for applying to the exams conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) such as the TNPSC Group 1, TNPSC Group 2, TNPSC Group 2A, TNPSC Group 4 and other TNPSC exams is just a collection of information by the TNPSC from the its exam applicants. It is just a system devised by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) to collect necessary information about the candidates in advance to ease the process of applying for various TNPSC exams.
The TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for all the candidates to apply for the TNPSC exams.
This TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR) also offers a separate dashboard to each TNPSC exam applicant to facilitate maintenance of their own information in a profile. An exam applicant who wishes to apply for any post under the TNPSC exams conducted by the TNPSC shall click ‘Apply’ against the TNPSC exam post notified in the TNPSC’s website and use their User ID and Password given for the TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR).

The TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR) completed by an exam candidate will be valid for five years from the date of registration of the TNPSC OTR. After completion of five years, the exam applicant must renew his/her TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR) by paying the OTR fee prescribed by the TNPSC.
The linking of Aadhar details of an exam candidate during their TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory as informed by the TNPSC. It has been officially informed that the information associated with the candidate’s Aadhar number including biometrics will be used only for identification purposes during TNPSC exams and will not be stored or shared by the TNPSC.
TNPSC applicants are requested to give their official consent in their respective TNPSC OTR during the registration. The Aadhar details of the applicants will be submitted to the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) only for the purpose of authentication during the registration of the TNPSC OTR.
It is to be noted that the linking of Aadhar details is mandatory for all prospective TNPSC candidates in order to create new OTR or renewal of OTR or inorder to access the existing TNPSC OTR and apply for any TNPSC exam recruitment to be notified henceforth by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
Note: Aadhar is mandatory to complete the TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR) and to apply for the direct recruitment for numerous TNPSC exams. Hence, the applicants who do not possess Aadhar are instructed to get their Aadhar by following appropriate procedure before applying for any direct recruitment for TNPSC exams.
The TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR) should be done by the applicants only through the online mode. Applicants can visit the official website of the TNPSC and complete their One Time Registration (OTR) and begin to apply for the TNPSC exams individually once the Notification is announced. Although, applicants need to understand that only after the completion of the TNPSC OTR can an applicant apply for TNPSC exams.
Without completion of the TNPSC OTR, applicants cannot apply for the TNPSC exams. So applicants are advised to complete their registration for the TNPSC OTR before applying for the TNPSC exams.

Other than these personal details, information regarding your SSC and other educational details will also be collected by the TNPSC in order to complete the TNPSC OTR.
During the registration of TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR), every applicant should upload the scanned image of his/her photograph (taken within the last three months) of file size 20 KB to 50 KB and saved as ‘Photograph.jpg’ and his/her signature of file size 10 KB to 20 KB and saved as ‘Signature.jpg’. Both photograph and signature of the applicant should be of 200 DPI resolution and should be ready to be uploaded when requested during the registration of the TNPSC OTR.

The TNPSC OTR will be valid for a period of 5 years from the date of registration of the TNPSC OTR.
Applicants can use the 'Forgot Login ID' in the TNPSC official website to find their TNPSC OTR Login ID. Also, applicants can check the SMS or message from TNPSC which will contain the TNPSC OTR Login ID and password sent to their mobile number on successful completion of the TNPSC OTR registration.
