The examination was originally planned for a total of 32,35,474 candidates, out of which only 13,75,936 individuals actually appeared, resulting in a participation rate of 42.5%.

 Every year Staff Selection Commission conducts recruitment to select suitable candidates for the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, and Data Entry Operator. For the selection of candidates in SSC CHSL 2023, SSC will conduct two computer-based examination tiers. Candidates who pass Tier I and Tier II will be considered eligible for the final selection. The SSC CHSL Exam is a Computer-Based Examination conducted every year. It will be conducted in two tiers:

Aspiring candidates interested in applying for the upcoming SSC CHSL 2023 Exam will need to fulfill the three important eligibility criteria in order to be eligible for the exam.
SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2023: Nationality
A candidate must be either be:
(i)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A citizen of India (or)
(ii)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A subject of Nepal (or)
(iii)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A subject of Bhutan (or)
(iv)Â Â Â Â A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania (formerly named Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
If a candidate belongs to categories (ii), (iii) and (iv) above, he/she shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Indian Government stating the same.

A candidate (in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary) may be admitted to the SSC CHSL 2022 Examination, but the offer of appointment after clearing all the SSC CHSL 2023 Exam Tiers will be given to him/her only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Indian Government.
The permissible age limit (as on 8th August 2023) for the posts stated in the SSC CHSL Notification 2023 is 18 years to 27 years,Â
i.e. Candidates born not before 02-08-1996 and not later than 01-08-2005 are eligible to apply.
The permissible relaxation in the upper age limit for different categories for the SSC CHLS Exam 2022 is given below:

The date of birth filled by a candidate in his/her SSC CHSL Apply Online 2023Â and the same recorded in his/her Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate will be accepted by the Staff Selection Commission for determining the age and no subsequent request for change will be considered or granted during the course of the examination.
Indian Ex-Servicemen who have already secured employment in the civil side under the Indian Government in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ on a regular basis after availing of the benefits of reservation given to ex-servicemen for their re-employment are not eligible for reservation in the ESM category and fee concession.
However, such candidates can avail of the benefit of reservation as an ex-serviceman for subsequent employment if he/she, immediately after joining civil employment, has given self-declaration/undertaking to his/her concerned employer about the date-wise details of applications for various vacancies for which he/she had applied for before joining the initial civil employment as mentioned in the OM No. 36034/1/2014-Estt (Res) dated 14 August 2014 issued by Department of Personnel and Training of the Indian Government3
